Being the trade that doesn't hold the job up
On a build, the electrician is rarely the trade people worry about until the electrician is the reason the plasterer cannot start. First fix has to land in the window between the carpenter finishing and the plasterboard going up, and that window moves.
We work to the builder's programme rather than our own, and we would rather come back for half a day than be the reason a week slips.
Working with the other trades
Most of the friction on a build is between trades rather than within them. Cable routes that clash with pipework, a plasterer who has boarded over back boxes, a kitchen fitter who needs a supply that nobody planned.
A conversation at the right time prevents almost all of it. We would rather spend twenty minutes on site with the builder and the plumber before first fix than three hours chasing out afterwards.
Supplies, boards and capacity
An extension is not just new circuits — it is new load on an existing installation. Sometimes the existing board has spare ways and adequate capacity. Sometimes it needs upgrading, or a sub-main run to a second board.
That gets assessed at survey, not discovered at second fix. Installations differ, and we price what yours actually needs.

Do you work directly for homeowners or through the builder?
Both. Some clients bring us in themselves and we coordinate with their builder; on other jobs the builder engages us. Either works.
Can you quote from drawings?
We can give an indicative price from drawings, but the final fixed price comes after seeing the property — the existing installation is usually what determines the real scope.
