What we do
From swapping a thirty-year-old fuse board in an afternoon to wiring an entire extension from the ground up. Every job is tested, certified and notified to Building Control.
Replacing older units that have no RCD protection with an 18th Edition metal-clad consumer unit, RCBO protection on every circuit, and full earthing and bonding brought up to standard. Most are done inside a day.
Older properties with rubber or fabric-insulated cable, undersized circuits or a board that keeps tripping. We plan the circuits around how you actually use the house, chase and run first fix, then second fix and test.
Set-out matters as much as the fitting. Downlights lined off the ridge, pendants centred on the island, wall lights levelled to the window heads, all on sensible dimmable circuits and switched where you'd expect.
First and second fix on new build and extension work, coordinated around the builder's programme so we're never the trade holding the job up. New circuits taken from the existing board or a new sub-main installed.
Electrical Installation Condition Reports for homeowners, landlords and house sales, written in plain English so you can see what actually needs doing and what can wait. Remedials quoted separately, never bundled in.
Extra sockets and USB outlets, outside power, garden and shed supplies, hot tub circuits, garage and workshop lighting, cooker and shower circuits, and fault finding on anything that's tripping and nobody can explain.
Worth a look
None of these mean the house is about to burn down. All of them mean it's worth having someone qualified put eyes on it.
An occasional trip is a faulty appliance. A board that goes repeatedly, or won't reset, usually points to a circuit fault or deteriorating insulation.
Rewireable fuse wire, or a plastic board with one or two big switches and no test button, means no RCD protection against electric shock.
Especially when the kettle or shower goes on. Often a loose connection or a circuit carrying more than it was designed for.
Near a socket, switch or the board itself. Scorch marks or warm faceplates are the same signal. This one is worth a call today.
Common in houses wired before the mid-1960s. The insulation goes brittle and cracks away from the conductor, and it can't be patched.
Along with no sockets upstairs, black rubber cable in the loft, or a wooden-backed fuse box. All point to an installation past its service life.
Worried about the power being off all day? On a board change we restore circuits progressively through the day rather than switching everything off from first thing. You'll normally have kettle, fridge and Wi-Fi back within a couple of hours.

Why it's worth doing early
It shows up as a board that keeps tripping, a socket that's warm to the touch, or a survey that stalls a house sale three weeks before completion. By that point it's urgent — and urgent always costs more than planned. Having it looked at while it isn't urgent is the entire point of a free assessment.

Questions
Usually yes. We work room by room or floor by floor, and leave you with power and lights in the parts of the house you're still using at the end of each day. It's dusty and disruptive — we won't pretend otherwise — but most families stay put. If the property is empty it's faster and cheaper, so tell us either way when you ask for the quote.
The supply comes off for the changeover itself, but we restore circuits progressively as they're tested rather than leaving everything dead until the end. In practice you'll normally have the fridge, kettle and router back within the first couple of hours, and the full installation live and certificated by the end of the day.
It can. Insurers increasingly ask about the age of the installation and whether you hold a valid EICR, and some policies expect the fixed wiring to have been inspected within the last ten years. A current certificate and an 18th Edition board with RCD protection removes the question entirely. Check your own policy wording — we can't advise on your cover, but we can give you the certificate it asks for.
Not automatically. Working isn't the same as safe, though. If yours has rewireable fuses, no RCD, no test button, a wooden back or visible scorching, it predates the protection that current regulations require and it's worth changing. If it's a modern board in good condition we'll tell you to leave it alone.
A full rewire replaces every cable, accessory and the consumer unit throughout the property. A partial replaces specific circuits or floors — commonly the ground floor during a kitchen refit, or the upstairs lighting where the cable has perished. Partial only makes sense where the rest of the installation tests clean; we'll tell you honestly which one your house needs after testing it.
Yes. Chases are filled and made good, floorboards lifted and re-laid properly, and the site swept at the end of every day. Skim plastering and decoration are separate trades — we'll quote for them or work alongside your own plasterer and decorator, whichever you prefer.
