Fuse Box Upgrades (Consumer Units)
Your fuse box (a consumer unit, in the trade) is the heart of your home's electrics. Old ones often have no RCD, the switch that cuts the power in a split second if someone gets a shock. A modern board protects every circuit on its own, so one fault never blacks out the whole house.
We check the whole installation before we start, fit an 18th Edition metal-clad board and bring the earthing and bonding up to standard. We switch circuits back on one by one through the day, so you usually have the kettle, fridge and Wi-Fi back within a couple of hours.
What's included
Checked before we start
The whole installation is tested first, so hidden faults are found and priced up front.
RCBO on every circuit

Surge protection
Fitted as standard, to guard your TV, computer and kitchen appliances against power spikes.
Labelled and certified
A clearly labelled board, a full certificate and the Building Control notice sorted.
Fuse boxes questions, answered
How much does a new fuse box cost?
It depends on the board and your circuits. We give you one fixed price for your exact job, in writing, before any work starts.
How long will the power be off?
Not all day. We switch circuits back on one by one, so most people have the kettle, fridge and Wi-Fi back within a couple of hours.
Why does my new fuse box trip when the old one never did?
A modern board spots faults the old one missed. That is the protection you are paying for. We test every circuit at the swap, so anything it flags gets found and fixed.
Does a fuse box swap need Building Control?
Yes, it has to be notified. As NAPIT Approved electricians we do that for you, at no extra cost.
